Piercing ring closing pliers (stainless steel)

Metal pliers that grip an open piercing ring and close it. They fit in the palm of your hand and a groove is cut inside the jaws for the ring to sit in.

Why you should not do it by hand

A thick ring will not close under finger strength, and forcing it bends it out of shape on one side. A bent ring will not hold its bead and the surface that rests against the skin sits crooked. These pliers close a ring with the groove in the jaws wrapped around it, so the force is not concentrated at one point and the original curve is kept.

For closing only

They are used to narrow the gap between the two ends of a ring before the bead goes in. Opening a ring the other way is not this tool's job, that is what ring opening pliers are for. Having the pair of them makes changing a thick ring much easier on the hands.

Before you buy

This is a tool for handling rings, not a tool to put against the body. Squeezing the handles hard in one go crushes the ring or sends it flying out of your hand, so squeeze a little at a time and close the gap while checking it by eye. It touches the ring, so disinfect the jaws before use, and never fit a new ring into a wound or a hole that has not healed. Making the hole in the first place is not something this tool does, that belongs in a professional piercing studio.
