A stainless steel collar that locks with a key. It is a one piece metal ring in two halves that meet to open and close, and once locked it cannot be taken off without the key. There is a ring at the front for attaching a lead.

The material is stainless steel and the measurements are given as 11.8cm inner diameter, 2.2cm wide and 0.5cm thick. The inner diameter is fixed, so a neck thicker than that cannot be closed inside it and a thinner one will turn loosely. An inner diameter of 11.8cm works out to a circumference of about 37cm, so measuring the neck with a tape before ordering is the safe move.
How it opens and closes, and the front ring
The collar stays joined on one side as it swings open and meets on the other side to close, and you lock it by putting the key into the small lock section on the side. The front ring is there to take a lead or a chain, but it sits against the neck, so use it only to guide direction. It is a 2.2cm wide metal band, so once it is closed it reduces how far the head can turn.
Before you use it
Unlike a leather collar there is nothing that stretches or adjusts, and it has weight to it. Being metal it feels cold at first, and worn for a long time it leaves marks on the skin. Cleaning and storage
Being stainless steel, it can be washed with water. After use, wash it with mild soap and dry it, wiping out any moisture left in the keyhole. Moisture left behind makes the lock stiff and leaves marks. Knocking against other metal scratches it, so wrap it in a cloth and store it on its own, and keep the key only in its agreed place.

For adults only. The neck is where the airway and the large blood vessels run, so pressure there is a danger in itself. An inner diameter of 11.8cm corresponds to a neck circumference of about 37cm, so it does not suit anyone with a thick neck and must never be forced closed. Being metal, it cannot be cut off in an emergency, so keep the key within reach, never pull on or hang anything from the front ring, and never fall asleep wearing it.
