Open ring gag (head harness·chained cover cap)

A ring gag that holds the mouth open. There is no original description, so only the construction that can be confirmed from the product photos is written here. Unlike a gag that fills the mouth with a ball, the center is a hollow tube.

A gag that holds open rather than blocks

Biting the center tube holds the mouth open by the width of the tube. The tube is hollow, so the wearer can breathe through the mouth while it is in and some sound still comes through. A leather panel ringed with rivets holds the tube and covers the area around the mouth.

A plug hanging on a chain

A plug hangs from a chain beside the panel. Fit it into the mouth of the tube and it is closed, pull it out and it is open. The same piece moves between the open state and the closed state. Because it is attached by a chain, the plug is not lost when it is out.

Straps that hold over the crown and at the back

Unlike a gag with only one strap around the back of the head, there is an additional strap over the crown. Held from two directions, the gag does not shift easily even when the wearer moves. Each strap is set to length with holes and a buckle.

Before you use it

Since it holds the mouth open, the jaw tires first. Use it in short stretches and undo it in between to rest the jaw. Swallowing is difficult, so saliva runs continuously and a towel is needed. Fitting the plug leaves the nose as the only airway, so that state should only be held briefly.
