Leather head hood (detachable blindfold·mouth ball plug)

A leather hood for sensory deprivation that covers both the eyes and the mouth. The supplier describes it as leaving the wearer unable to hear, speak or see, with only touch remaining. It is made of soft black leather and comes with a removable blindfold and a lockable ball pad.

A face panel that is completely closed

There are no eye openings on the face side, so vision disappears the moment it goes on. One more leather strap runs across the eyes, leaving almost no gap for light to leak through. It takes the senses away all at once rather than one at a time, which makes it demanding for a first-time wearer.

A mouth plug on a chain

At the mouth there is a round panel ringed with rivets, and a plug hangs from a chain at its center. Pull the plug out and the mouth opens, push it in and the mouth is closed. With the plug out the wearer can breathe through the mouth, so it is safer to start with it open.

Back lacing and a buckle below the throat

The back of the head is laced through eyelets and drawn tight, so it pulls in to match the circumference of the head. Separate buckled straps run over the crown and below the throat to hold that tension in place. The band at the neck carries a D-ring for attaching a lead.

Before you use it

Because it shuts down every sense, the only person who can see the wearer's condition is the person beside them. Start with short sessions, extend the time gradually, and keep watching the breathing and the tension in the body. The leather is closed on the inside, so it grows warm and sweaty quickly, and saliva runs once the plug is in. A tightly knotted back lacing is hard to undo in a hurry, so the rule is a knot that releases in one pull.
