What the original emphasizes is the stainless steel surface. It is polished smooth so it does not scratch the rectal wall. With metal items the danger lies in a rough finish rather than in the thickness, which is why this matters. Even so, it is worth getting into the habit of running your fingers over the surface before each use to check for nicks.

The disc base and the stone
