It is shaped as several rounded steps stacked on top of one another. The tip at the top starts at 3 cm and grows thicker toward the bottom, with a middle step at 7.4 cm and the widest point at 8.3 cm. The thickness does not change all at once; each step has a narrow groove, so it goes in one step at a time. Being able to check how far your body will take it, step by step, is what sets it apart from a single tapered cone.
